ABSTRACT
This article describes a bill introduced by Nevada Republican Paul Laxalt called the Family Protection Act as of January 30, 1980, that would reverse existing federal biases against the family. Laxalt claims that many federal economic policies and programs are designed to break down the family unit or erode the traditional values it embodies. Among these programs and policies according to Laxalt discourage children from caring for their aged parents, make parents less responsible and penalize marriage.
