ABSTRACT
The article focuses on a study published in "Arthritis and Rheumatism" which examined the use of anakinra in preventing refractory arthritis in patients with systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Some of the patients in this study received anakinra plus steroids, while some received anakinra plus steroid and disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs). Results of the study showed that majority of the patie nts had a complete response without dosage increase. The study also found that anakinra was effective in most patients.
