ABSTRACT
The article features the Trocadero Ballroom, a dance palace at the Elitch Gardens amusement park in Denver, Colorado. This ballroom has been advertised as The Summer Home of America's Biggest Bands. Band leaders Blue Barron, Carmen Cavallaro, and Eddy Howard are among who brought their orchestras at the ballroom. A Saturday night in the late 1930s would often bring out a capacity of 1,500 dancing couples. Equal decorum was demanded from the bands; the ballroom was slow to adopt new types of music.
