ABSTRACT
The article discusses key points raised in Kirkpatrick Sale's book "Power Shift: The Rise of the Southern Rim and Its Challenge to the Eastern Establishment." He described the growth of a rival nexus in the Southern and Western parts of the U.S. that stand in geographical, cultural, economic and political opposition to the Northeast. He explained the shift of the balance of power away from the Northeast and toward the Southern Rim, and offered comforts to the defensive liberal establishment.
