ABSTRACT
The article comments on some of the alternatives that would dictate the fate of railroads in the Northeastern States. One of these alternatives is the total deregulation of surface transportation. Another alternative is by offering subsidies to the users and employees of the rails. Nationalization is another alternative discussed.
