ABSTRACT
The article presents news briefs concerning politics and government in United States as of August 18, 1978. According to a poll by the "Baltimore News American," 74 percent are not sure they would vote against suspended governor Marvin Mandel. The Senate has voted, 73 to 1, to cut off nearly all American trade with Idi Amin's Uganda. The article also reports on the attempt of the University of Maryland to appoint Marxist Bertell Ollman as chairman of the Department of Politics and Government.
