ABSTRACT
The article reports on the ongoing unfavourable business conditions for independent film makers in the U.S. Recently, the industry has faced closure of major distributors like Warner Independent Pictures, Paramount Vantage etc. due to which mass layoffs were seen. It is stated that as the award season is nearing in the industry, the conditions are worsening. The public is also not showing much appreciation for independent films as evident from the response of latest film "Black Swan"
