Equinox previously received an offer of 6.3 billion U.S. dollars from Chinese company Minmetals Resources Ltd. but the company's board of directors unanimously recommended a deal with Barrick. In response to Barrick's offer, Minmetals plan to make a 7-U.S. dollar-per-share offer to Equinox.
