ABSTRACT
The article presents an update on the syrup industry in the U.S. as of April 15, 2011. The rise in sugar prices has affected beverage prices. Robert Semaan, owner of the Balade Pitza & Grill in New York City, has introduced Jallab, a Middle Eastern drink made from date syrup. Also noted is the popularity of vanilla in single-origin varietals.
