Lifetime measurements of three-phonon states in [sup 110]Cd

To study the collective structure of [sup 110]Cd to high excitation energy, the lifetimes of proposed 3-phonon states [1] in [sup 110]Cd have been measured using the Doppler Shift Attenuation Method (DSAM) following the (n,n′γ) reaction. The preliminary experimental results allow the determination of B(E2) values, which are compared to different theoretical descriptions. The collectivity of these states is established. © 2000 American Institute of Physics.
