Coincidence spectroscopy of the [sup 186]W(n,xnypzαγγ) reaction using the KEGS array at LANSCE/WNR

ABSTRACT
Several γ-γ coincidence measurements have been performed using “beams” of spallation neutrons from the LANSCE/WNR facility. Because these reactions have low multiplicity, a geometrically compact detector arrangement was used to enhance the coincidence rate. The data taken with a target of [sup 186]W proved to be the most useful, as several new levels were identified in both [sup 186]W and [sup 185]W. Additionally, the reactions generated with the high energy neutrons (E[sub n]>200 MeV) revealed the production of nuclei as remote from [sup 186]W as [sup 170]W, [sup 166]Hf, and [sup 160]Yb. © 2000 American Institute of Physics.
