Dynamic processes induced by the high potential energy of multiply charged ions have been investigated in a large number of collision systems during the last years. We give a review of these activities with special emphasis on the developments since the last ICPEAC in Vienna 1997. © 2000 American Institute of Physics.

Progress continues on the development of databases for spectral properties of atoms and ions. Version 2.0 of the NIST Atomic Spectra Database (ASD) became available on the World Wide Web in March 1999. This version contains data for many more spectra than version 1.2, which it replaced, and the...

The feasibility of ion channeling through the wall of a thin Si-liquid cell has been investigated. We have shown experimentally that it is possible to channel ions through a thin Si-liquid interface. With water the channeling minimum yield is 0.45 at the interface. This is higher than that...

The charge transfer process between a laser-cooled magnesium ion and a thermal barium atom in a radio-frequency ion trap in extremely low energy regime is observed. The merit of using the trap is that the generated ions are also confined in the trap. The occurrence of the charge transfer process...
