I review recent chiral perturbation theory results for the electromagnetic hyperon and the strange nucleon form factors. I also present a precise chiral nucleon-nucleon potential based on a modified Weinberg power counting and discuss the pertinent results and implications. © 2000 American Institute of Physics.

We start with a brief introduction to HBCPT, and discuss spin-dependent forward Compton scattering both as a pedagogic example and to present our recent results for the fourth-order contribution. We then present two recent two-loop calculations in HBCPT; the fifth-order contribution to the...

In the approximation of unpolarized nuclear matter, the optical potential for nucleon-nucleus scattering is calculated on the basis of the effective Skyrme interaction with allowance for tensor nucleonnucleon forces. It is shown that the tensor Skyrme forces make a significant contribution to...

The transverse polarisation in inclusively produced Λ and Λ hyperons has been studied at HERMES using the 27.5 GeV positron beam of the HERA accelerator at DESY. The average transverse polarisations were found to be P[sub n][sup Λ] = 0.055 ± 0.006 (stat) ± 0.016 (syst) and...

We study two-photon contributions to the elastic electron-nucleon scattering within the Skyrme model. In particular we focus on the role of the anomaly that enters via the Wess-Zumino term and explain how this induces an axial current interaction.

Reactions of quasielastic Λ-, Σ−-, and Σ0-hyperon production in antineutrino-nucleon interactions are studied. An axial-mass ( M A) value that agrees with a fit to all accelerator data on exclusive and inclusive νN and νN reactions was extracted from a global statistical...

We have studied quasielastic charged current hyperon production induced by νμ on free nucleon and the nucleons bound inside the nucleus and the results are presented for several nuclear targets like 40Ar, 56Fe and 208Pb. The hyperonnucleon transition form factors are determined from...

A constituent quark model is developed for the reaction γ p → η p , allowing us to investigate all available data for differential cross-sections as well as single polarization asymmetries (beam and target) by including all of the PDG, one to four star, nucleon resonances (S11, P11,...

We argue that, in contrast to the non-relativistic approach, a relativistic evaluation of the nucleon-hole and delta-isobar-nucleon-hole contributions to the pion self-energy incorporates the s-wave scattering, whose magnitude within the RPA is in conflict with the near-threshold behavior...
