ABSTRACT
We present the results of an experimental study of the effects of a adding a stochastic binary signal to the input of a nonlinear electronic oscillator. The circuit is a modified Van der Pol oscillator whose bifurcation structure is well understood. For high frequency digital noise added around a Hopf bifurcation the effect observed is a smoothing out of the bifurcation, and a delay in the phenomenological bifurcation point. © 2000 American Institute of Physics.
