Optimal detection of noisy subthreshold signals

The threshold system known as “level crossing device” with descrete-in-time input is studied as the detector of weak noise-contaminated signals. The signals are assumed to be contained in time-dependent noise distribution parameters such as mean and variance. Using the new spectra techniques we find the equations estimating condition for optimal device performance with arbitrary distributed additive and multiplicative noise. © 2000 American Institute of Physics.
