In this paper we describe the mechanical behavior, by determination of the Young’s module in the elastic range, on six samples representing the principal lithoid typologies present in the Sicilian area, using computer aided speckle interferometry technique. In order to verify the reliability of the method we employed also the well developed technique of Michelson interferometry, and compared the results obtained with the two techniques. © 2000 American Institute of Physics.
