ABSTRACT
Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating methodology was applied on the coarse grain fraction (100÷500 μm thick) of quartz crystals (green light stimulated luminescence, GLSL) and feldspar crystals (infrared stimulated luminescence, IRSL) taken from sections at different depths of cores bored in various coastal lagoons (Longarini, Cuba, Bruno) in the south-east coast of Sicily. The results obtained give a sequence of congruent relative ages and maximum absolute ages compatible with the sedimentary structure, thus confirming the excellent potential of the methodology. © 2000 American Institute of Physics.
