The PINTEX experimental apparatus used for detection of pvector pvector →ppπ[sup 0] and pvector pvector →pnπ[sup +] at IUCF is described. Measured spin observables, integrated as well as angle-or energy-dependent, are compared with the Ju¨lich model. Significant discrepancies are found for the angular distributions. © 2000 American Institute of Physics.

We present studies of single-spin and double-spin asymmetries in semi-inclusive electroproduction of pions using the CEBAF 6 GeV polarized electron beam. The article begins with a description of chiral symmetry and its application to neutrino induced reactions. For small Q² (forward direction) the process is dominated by the amplitute with helicity zero where the pion pole disappears when multiplied with the polarization vector. The remaining...

Understanding the few-nucleon system remains one of the challenges in modern nuclear and hadron physics. Observables in few-nucleon scattering processes are sensitive probes to study the two and many-body interactions between nucleons in nuclei. In the past decades, several facilities provided a...

The polarization of helium 2S[sub 1] atoms is achieved by collisional processes involving optically oriented sodium atoms in a Na-He gas-discharge plasma, and the conditions for observing the signal of the magnetic resonance excited by the 2S[sub 1] state of the He atoms are...
