Measurements of the pp→ppπ[sup 0] reaction at 310, 320, 340, 360, 400 and 425 MeV, and quasi-free pn→ppπ[sup -] production in pd collisions at 320 MeV have been carried out at the PROMICE/WASA facility at CELSIUS. The pp→ppπ[sup 0] differential cross sections have been parametrised and used to deduce the poorly known σ[sub 01] total cross section through the relation: σ[sub 01]=2σ(pn→ppπ[sup -])-σ(pp→ppπ[sup 0]). Preliminary results show the σ[sub 01] to be of the order of 50% of the σ[sub 11] for the ppπ[sup -] excess energy between 8 and 40 MeV. © 2000 American Institute of Physics.

The parity-violating pion-nucleon coupling constant for the neutral currents of electroweak interaction is calculated by the method of QCD sum rules. In doing this, operators up to dimension 5 are retained in the operator-product expansion for the correlation function in an external pion field....

The parameters of the pion-electroproduction peak in the cross section for inclusive electron scattering on ¹H and d target nuclei are determined for various kinematical conditions of measurements. It is shown that, for low 4-momentum transfers, 0.030 ≤ Q² ≤ 0.086 (GeV/c)²,...

Recently we have succeeded in observing the 1s and 2p bound pionic states in [sup 205]Pb nucleus as well separated peaks in the excitation spectrum of the [sup 206]Pb(d,[sup 3]He) reaction. The observed spectrum agreed quite well with the theoretical prediction where the formation cross section...
