The article describes the train maintenance centre of the Société Nationale des Chemins de fer français (SNCF) located in Bischheim, a suburb of Strasbourg, France. It highlights the mid-life refits done by the French national railway for TGV Duplex high-speed trainsets. It discusses the lean workflow changes and staff empowerment conducted by SNCF which helped improve productivity and reduce the time taken to refurbish its TGV fleet.
