ABSTRACT
This section offers news briefs of interests to the members of the rail industry including the Andean Development Corp. to allot 400 million U.S. dollars for the restoration of the Belgrano network in northwest Argentina to operating condition, the 253 kilometer western extension of a railway project extension from Lhasa to Xigase in Tibet expected to be completed by 2015, and the construction of the 48 kilometer railway between Las Palmas and Meloneras on the Spanish island of Grand Canaria to start in 2012.
