FSA plans could cost farmers more than £20m

A letter from the FSA states that the agency should not be providing a subsidy that is a cost to the taxpayer and which is difficult to justify. Concerns are expressed by farming unions and meat industry representatives that the added cost would be detrimental to businesses. The estimated increases in costs for small and medium-sized abattoirs are also discussed.
