ABSTRACT
The article discusses a journalist's decision to move to a teaching profession. The author cites that low budgets and audience numbers prompted him to give up a career as a documentary producer at the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) and accept a full-time teaching job at the University of Oregon's School of Journalism and Communication in 2006. He advises journalists who are planning to shift jobs to the academe to be ready with advanced degrees, teaching experience, and to have an impressive resumé.
