ABSTRACT
The article profiles Romanian media mogul, Sorin Ovidiu Vintu. It describes Vintu as a power broker and controversial financial speculator. Vintu established his media empire in 2003 with the principle that it should be used as a military weapon and a means to gain power and protection. Vintu was convicted for being involved in a Ponzi scheme initiated by the Fondul National de Investitii that resulted in loss of money for 300,000 Romanian investors.
