ABSTRACT
The article discusses the concerted effort towards an efficient method of introducing the Lean structured method to improve the productivity of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Great Britain in March 2011. It says that Lean manufacturing is an effective method of raising productivity. According to the author, the Lean method aims to instill a sustained improvement drive that can be started with a brainstorming session among the workers. The importance of SMEs, the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and the purpose of management reviews are also discussed.
