The article discusses the benefits of the model-based engineering (MbE) implemented by Repsol YPF SA for its commercial-scale hydrogen peroxide-to-propylene oxide (HPPO) process in London, England. The company has collaborated with Process Systems Enterprise Ltd. (PSE) to develop a plant that can produce several propylene oxide using the latter's PROMS modeling and optimization platform. It notes that the initiative has helped improve the company's production and achieve annual savings.
