The article offers updates on the business conditions of the food and beverage industries in the U.S. It says that a 5.3 billion U.S. dollar deal to take Del Monte Foods Co. private was considered as one of the largest private-equity deals completed in the food and beverage sector. According to Carl Stickel, co-head of the American consumer investment banking division for Bank of America, there is a growing interest from private equity firms to invest in the sector.
