ABSTRACT
The article features Craig Calfee, a bike maker, who makes use of bamboo for the frames of his bicycles. To achieve the shape needed for the bike production, he forces bamboo to grow in a controlled environment. It is noted that bicycle frames made of bamboo are more lightweight and conducive to road vibrations, therefore providing better performance. Such bicycle is reportedly becoming more and more appealing to the market because it is earth-friendly.
