Bamboo: The Magazine of the American Bamboo Society;Oct2009, Vol. 30 Issue 5, p11
The article describes how the author as a furniture maker based in Costa Rica grows bamboo to be more useful in furnishings. He got inspiration in treating and shaping bamboo from a deformed bamboo culm that was possibly caused by a virus. He then experimented bamboo forming using old tires, metal strips, bamboo half-canes, and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) fittings. In bamboo forming, it is said to be important to find species of bamboo that takes this kind of treatment well in order to make repetitive shapes.
