ABSTRACT
The article offers a look at how political commitment to universal health care coverage and increased health care investment improved the health indicators in Turkey. It describes the previous situation of the health care system in Turkey, along with the influence of the political changes in the country in 2002 on the health care administration in the country. The achievements and lessons learned from the health system reforms in Turkey are highlighted. The authors note that there are other issues that should be addressed in order to continuously improve the health care sector in Turkey.
