The article summarizes eight recent research papers on rose horticulture published in journals throughout the world. In one study entitled "Possible impact of multiflora rose on breeding-bird diversity in riparian forest fragments of central Delaware," by R. J. Masse and K. Vulinec, it was found that populations of American breeding songbirds declined due to the invasion of the Rosa multiflora alien species which reduced plant diversity and the availability of insects as food.
