The article talks about two examples of industrial stormwater programs. The Minnesota Industrial Stormwater Program (MISP) is formulating a new set of best management practices (BMPs) by identifying the best ways to handle pollution prior to its contact with stormwater. One way is by helping industries identify the relationship between water discharge and water quality. The Port of Long Beach in California uses a regional stormwater monitoring program where samples are taken from 21 outfall points.
