The article discusses arranged marriages among Aboriginal Australians facilitated by Moravian missions in the Australian Colony of Victoria in the mid-nineteenth century. It focuses on the efforts of Moravian missionary Friedrich Hagenauer at the Ebenezer mission station. The author comments on the marriages of several Aboriginal women, including Nora White, Emily Peters, Rhoda Toby, and Ada Flower. The article also discusses the conversion of Aboriginal Australians to Christianity and analyzes arranged marriage as a form of social and sexual control.
