ABSTRACT
This article discusses the relationship of communication to systems theory. Communication is important because of its indispensability for the smooth operation of the total system, serving to integrate all the subsystems in such a way that the internal stability of the total system is maintained. As a maintenance mechanism, communication plays a vital role in binding subsystems together in what may be considered a communication network. Communication also binds the system to the external world in a dynamic equilibrium.
