ABSTRACT
The article discusses the relationship between Russian mystic Grigori Rasputin and Russian Tsarina Alexandra, questioning the importance of this connection to the downfall of the Romanov dynasty. Biographical information on Alexandra and Rasputin is provided. Rasputin's role as a healer, specifically for Alexandra's son Alexis, is examined. Other causes for the dynasty's failure are analyzed, such as the emancipation of Russian serfs, the rise of Germany, and the Russo-Japanese War.
