Benzene drives up PS prices

The article reports that North American polystyrene (PS) prices have increased by an average of 8 cents per pound since December 1, 2010. It is stated that a 56-cent leap in benzene pricing for January 2011 is the reason behind the bigger PS price increase. According to PS market analyst Stacy Shelly, due to increases in price for butadiene feedstock, PS makers are trying to raise high-impact PS prices.
