ABSTRACT
The article reports on the I.S 318 Middle School Chess Team. I.S. 318 in New York is a title I school and exposes the students to chess, without requiring try outs. The team is the first place winner of all three grades at the National Scholastic K-12 Championship in Florida. It has its own financial difficulty due to the city's budget situation, but with donations from private donors and foundations. The school's chess program will be featured in a documentary called "Brooklyn Castle."
