ABSTRACT
The article reports on the limited release of seeds for drought-tolerant corn varieties targeted to farmers on the western edge of the U.S. corn belt. DuPont Agricultural Products Co. and Syngenta Crop Protection developed the varieties using traditional breeding techniques to speed the process of picking which parent plants will be tried. According to Kraig Roozeboom, agronomist with Kansas State University Research and Extension, the duo's entry to the world market could start a competition.
