ABSTRACT
The article offers a retrospective on the growth of the publication since March 1990. Founded by co-editors Richard John Neuhaus and James Nuechterlein, "First Things" magazine was a combination of two public intellectual journals, "The Religion and Society Report," and "This World." The author notes that more than 200 issues have been published by the magazine with a total circulation of 30,000 copies. The article describes the purpose of the magazine as establishing the right connection between public life and religion.
