ABSTRACT
The article focuses on a wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi)-based peer-to-peer transmission standard called Wi-Fi Direct. The standard will enable Wi-Fi devices such as smartphones and table computers to communicate with each other directly. Wi-Fi Alliance technical director Greg Ennis said that chipset vendors have certified chipsets for Wi-Fi Direct. Research firm In-Stat says that Wi-Fi Direct could replace the need for Bluetooth 3.0.
