It has been stated that Thiel invests in companies and groups that do innovative things like extending life, commercializing space, promoting so-called friendly artificial intelligence etc. Thiel tells that freedom is incompatible with democracy and so he offered thousands of dollars to college kids who dropped out to start a business or pursue a breakthrough. He had made sizable investment in the social networking site Facebook.
