ABSTRACT
The article reports on the challenges faced by offshore oil industry with regards to engineering, construction and installations for oil explorations. While deepwater explorations have been successful, it notes that environmental issues remain to be a challenge of oil companies due to loss of revenue as a result of facility failures. It cites the incidence wherein an oil facility in the Gulf of Mexico has been damaged by Hurricane Rita in 2005.
