ABSTRACT
The article discusses an in vitro study, which examined the physical compatibility of the anticoagulant sodium citrate mixed with hypertonic saline, and the antifungals, fluconazole and micafungin, for use in antifungal lock therapy. The study used 4 percent sodium citrate, 23.4 percent sodium chloride injection and higher concentrations of antifungals than the breakpoints for Candida species. The article states the study showed no evidence of incompatibility between the admixtures.
