ABSTRACT
The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) reports on the evaluation of Department of Defense's (DOD) and Coast Guard's oversight and implementation of their respective sexual assault prevention and response programs. It states that sexual assault is a crime with a far-reaching negative impact on the military services in that it undermines core values and degrades mission readiness. It highlights that DOD and the Coast Guard needs additional actions to strengthen their respective programs.
