ABSTRACT
The article presents the report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) concerning the readiness of the Bureau of the Census to conduct the 2010 Census. It notes that the weaknesses in Bureau's information technology (IT) acquisition and uncertainty over the ultimate cost of the census have led the GAO to designate the Census as a high-risk area in March 2008. However, the report indicates the improvements made by the Bureau to various IT systems and risk management efforts in 2009.
