ABSTRACT
The article discusses the move of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly to declare 2011 as the International Year of Forests. The goal of the UN is to increase awareness by people about conservation, sustainable development, and sustainable management of forests of all types. It is said that 31 percent of the world's land area are covered by forests according to the UN data.
