ABSTRACT
The article presents a study conducted by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) on the financial implications of Gulf Coast restoration. GAO found that the federal government has committed more than 116 billion dollars to respond to the devastation caused by the Gulf Coast hurricanes. GAO revealed the importance of considering the potential of federal assistance within the context of overall estimates of the damages to understand the financial implications of Gulf Coast restoration.
