The article presents news related to labor movement. For various logistic reasons, it was decided to hold the 1994 annual general meeting over until the May 1995 Conference in Brighton when it is hoped that many members of the Social History Society will be able to attend. In the interim, a small working party of the executive committee will be opening negotiations with commercial publishers, prior to presenting the executive committee with a definite proposal about future publication arrangements for the "Labour History Review." The working party would be most interested to receive the views of members on this proposed link with a commercial publisher, and on the proposed change in format which, while retaining the best of current practice, would bring "Labour History Review" more in line with other academic journals through the publication of more articles. The theme of the annual conference of the Social History Society in 1996 is the social history of work. The conference will provide an opportunity to debate key themes and controversies thrown up by recent research into the historical definition and meaning of work, particularly relating to skill, class, gender, ethnicity and health.
