ABSTRACT
The article discusses a court case where a corporation's ability to spend money on electioneering communications in federal elections was limited. The U.S. Supreme Court held in the case, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, that the government could not prohibit such expenditures on the basis of the First Amendment's free speech rights. The court's changing view on campaign finance regulation reportedly shows its willingness to strike down laws related to it in varying circumstances.
