ABSTRACT
The author focuses on her efforts to work with and dance to the films by George Manupelli titled "Five Short Films" and "August 2009." The author, with the collaboration of her friend Jen Green, reflects on how she can improvise and establish a tie to the films being projected in such a way that is authentic and interesting and without any material being set. She describes the act of performing as an alchemical process that sharpens the focus of the makers of that work.
